Presentation Tips for DASHBOARD & ANSWERS

Eliminating extra White Spaces from Dashboard Reports:
You can eliminate "white space" from your Dashboards by formatting tabular and pivot table reports to "fit" into 100% of the available width of the Dashboard columns. You can do this by entering 100% into the Width entry under Additional Formatting Options in the Table View Properties.

Reload Server Metadata and Files:
Whenever there is any kind of change at the application level in the WEBCAT, always first perform Reload Server Metadata and Files then only open the results page of the report. This is very important to refresh the cache before you open a new report. This is under Administration- Settings.

Using variables in column formula:
While adding column formula, always choose add variables instead of direct typing the variable names as this may lead to mismatch in the variable names and the report could not show the desired results.

Shortcut to go to CRITERIA tab:
While working on any request, to go directly to the Criteria tab, press and hold down the CTRL key when you click then request.

Adding filter for column outside the request:
To add a filter for a column that is not included in request, press and hold down the CTRL key at the Criteria tab and click the column name in the selection pane.

Dashboard Prompt in Publisher:
If you are creating a dashboard prompt for an Oracle BI Publisher report that receives its data from and Oracle BI Server or SQL Server, the Set Variable must be set to “Presentation.”

Tips for specifying TOOLTIPS:
Background: While changing Tool Tip of cell in Siebel Analytics report’s table view, by default, for each cell of table view one pop up (tool tip) comes up with value ‘Results’. Sometimes it is required to change the tool tip dynamically (as per cell contents) or statically (sensible to report purpose).

Solution: Following are the steps to Change Tool Tip –
1.    Go to Siebel Answers -> Create Request
2.    Go to column to which dynamic Tool Tip is to be shown
3.    For Sensible Static Tool tip =>
Table.Column properties -> Data format -> Override Default -> Custom ->
@[HTML]""@""

4.    For Sensible Dynamic Tool tip => this will show column value as tool tip
 Table.Column properties -> Data format -> Override Default -> Custom ->

For Text column - @[HTML]""@""
For Example in-attached report’s screen shot  -
@[HTML]""@""
For Date Column - @[HTML]""dd-MMM-yy h:mm:ss tt""

5.    Sensible Tool tip for Image =>
Instead of keeping image as cell background make it html image code in data format
Table.Column properties -> Data format -> Override Default -> Custom ->
@[HTML]""
